A pandemonium of colors and images of incredible beauty are expected to be enjoyed by visitors to Lake Kerkini in N. Serres, since 6000 flamingos have so far come to the important and internationally recognized wetland, according to the page of Lake Kerkini National Park.
Speaking, the Coordinator of the Lake Kerkini Management Agency, Thodoros Naziridis, said that the lake is a basic wintering station for flamingos that come in late summer and leave for other areas to reproduce. Mr. Naziridis also said that in the beautiful wetland has arrived from Northern Norway, the entire European population (73 birds) goslings to spend the winter.In fact, their long journey of 3,500 kilometers lasted two days, in contrast to other years when the duration of the journey was at least doubled.
